Which OnePlus smartphone should you buy?

If you’re looking for an Android phone and the top of the line flagship smartphones from the likes of Samsung and Google cost more than you want to pay for a phone, then perhaps you should consider Chinese smartphone brand, OnePlus. OnePlus has gained a lot of fame amongst Android smartphone users who are looking for a great deal on a flagship level smartphone and it now has three smartphone devices that are very close in specs and performance to competing smartphones from the more well-established phone makers. The difference is that the OnePlus phones cost anywhere from a few hundred dollars less to almost around half the price of the competition. So which of the three OnePlus phones is right for you?

The OnePlus 5

The 5 is the latest and greatest smartphone from OnePlus right now. It has the fastest processor available to android phones in 2017, the Qualcomm SnapDragon 835. It also has a ton of RAM and a headphone jack. Where the OnePlus 5 falls down is in its lack of a bezel-free display, something that any flagship device worth its salt features this year. However, if like most people who use their 5’s with OnePlus 5 cases, you will put your in a protective case too, the thicker bezels on the 5 are unlikely to matter too much and for the money, this is a very capable phone.

The OnePlus 3T

This was the mid-cycle refresh to the OnePlus 3 that introduced a beautiful new black colour body, albeit in a limited edition, along with a faster processor. The OnePlus 3 was one of the first Android smartphones to get the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 825 processor in 2016 and it is still a phone that is fast enough for most people. In fact, with 6 Gb of RAM, the OnePlus 3T should be a powerful phone for a few years. Externally though it looks just the same as the OnePlus 3, apart from the limited edition colour so OnePlus 3T cases are backwards compatible with OnePlus 3 cases and vice versa.

The OnePlus 3

Since the OnePlus 3 isn’t really available any longer and the OnePlus 3T was a lot more performance for just a tiny bit more money, that is really the phone to go for unless you want to have the dual camera setup of the newer and more expensive OnePlus 5.
